Welcome To Stirling Pre-School

Welcome to Stirling Pre-School.  Our school is like a home away from home as every employee knows the children’s names and greets each child with a smile.  The children also feel at ease talking to all staff members and are comfortable asking for help if necessary.  We are all committed to creating a happy and caring environment. The teachers are educated, experienced and first-aid trained, ensuring that your child is stimulated and safe at all times.

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that we will be celebrating our 5-year school anniversary on Sunday 1 August.  Thank you to the staff members who are still with me 5 years on – Thoko and Victor, Lynette, Sharon, Shaun and Tracey.  It is interesting to look at the pictures of when we first started as so much has changed inside and outside of the buildings.  Chiedza Nyagani’s family and Ryan Toet’s family have also been with us for the 5 years and the Toet family still has a few years to go with their youngest only starting next year!  It has been a very happy five years and I thank all the parents, children and staff members who make it such a special place.

Workshops – Some of our teachers are going on a workshop this Saturday and still others are going to a Perceptual Skills workshop on Monday afternoon.

Photos – As per the term planner, class and individual photos will be next week as follows:
Flags and Proteas – Tuesday 27 July
Yellowwoods – Wednesday 28 July
Blue Cranes – Friday 30 July
Springboks – Friday 30 July
Absentee photos – Thursday 5 August

Congratulations – To Amani’s sister on the birth of her baby girl, Zinati.  Amani seems very happy to have yet another sister.

Sick children – Please remember to keep sick children at home.  If they vomited during the night, or even if they just were up all night and didn’t sleep, they will be very tired at school.  This is a recipe for accidents.  Also, children on medication are often drowsy and when the medication wears off, they feel sick again.  Germs spread very quickly in the school environment, so keep sick children at home and give them plenty of water and rest.

Toiletries – We will put the requirements into the term planner next term, so it will be easier to remember, but for those of you who have asked it to go into the newsletter, please see below.
Grade 0000        4 toilet rolls, 2 roller towels, 2 x Wet Wipes pack of 80
Also, any personal toiletries to be kept at school for your child.
Grade 000 & 00    4 toilet rolls, 2 boxes of tissues, 2 roller towels, 1 x liquid soap refill.

NO WATER – On Thursday 29 July, there will be no water at the school and the surrounding areas from 6:00am until 3:00pm.  We appeal to you to find alternative arrangements for your child on that day and not send him/her to school.  With over 100 people using our toilets during the day, and no pool to use to get water from, we will only be able to flush every once in a while with buckets of water that we collect the day before.  This creates a huge smell throughout the school, and no-one is able to wash their hands, creating very unsanitary conditions.  We realize that this is not ideal, but we do not have any control over the situation.  Please make every effort to leave your child at home if at all possible.

Speech – With the water shortage and not many children arriving on Thursday, Rhona, will come on Monday 26 July instead of Thursday 29 July.

Regards,

Lorna Greig
